Demeter is a Mabon Inspired Curation. Crafted alongside my “Sammie Louise” Candle. Sammie Louise is my grandmother. My grandmother had passed in 2022. I continue to grieve her loss. A loss that I could never have imagined would effect me to the extent that is has. It is expected for your grandparents to die. It is a sad truth amongst our lives. And yet, her death was unexpected and felt untimely. It can be so difficult to accept the loss of a love one. To lean in and understand the divine plan.

Demeter has come through as a grandmother energy for me. Following my meditation stories that play throughout my mind’s eye. Weaving in the never ending mantra, “You are the Daughter of Hades and Persephone.” I leaned into the imagination and created two candles in a Yin Yang fashion. One expressing my physical grandmother as I felt her to be. Another with similar attributes who could not come through as anything other than Demeter. This became the full circle closure I required. About a year prior, I created a Weezy candle, in a vessel that reminded me of Roman/Greek farming. Of wheat and a golden chalice of wine. The color of a Pomegranate. My grandmother enjoyed nothing more than her Pomegranate wine. Continuing to dive down the rabbit hole of my soul, we conclude here to the mirrored curations of Sammie and Demeter.

I found a difficult time deciding upon who is the aligned soul for such a candle. I had tapped into a few souls. None of which seemed to work out. Feeling the pressure of a last minute decision, my beautiful friend Reanna commented upon the gyft away post. Reanna had reached out a few weeks prior and requested a grief candle. I had intentions of crafting her one and sending to her as a gift. Reanna was one of the artists next to me at Frankenfest. A fellow Leo/Aquarius energy blend. I adored her from the start. She creates amazing furniture and natural beauty products. She has spread the word on my candles time and time again. She had helped me get started working in the community and provided me with my first store front opportunity. Her genuine love and support without competition has been refreshing. In that moment of reading her comment, I knew this candle was for her.

Demeter had to grieve the loss of her daughter to the underworld. While the story of Demeter does not fit Reanna’s grief exactly. I believe Demeter will provide her the love and guidance she needs to heal through the painful change and journey of souls in the land of the dead. It is important for us to find the joy, the peace and Divine Purpose to the abrupt changes of death, no matter how that death may occur. May Demeter provide her safe travels to visit her loved one when she needs. May she gift her a harvest of light within this darkness. May she learn to grow from the mystery of life and death.
