Athena-

Athena, the candle curation that has (continued) to be the most time consuming curation thus far. This candle vessel under went construction for two weeks before being approved as completed. Created from a wall candle holder or some type of wall shelving. I truly cannot recall the original piece’s title. I flipped her upside down. Filled her cage with a forestry habitat and a golden owl I felt called to bring home with me during my trip to Spain. The Moss was selected from a craft store, however every stick and branch were hand selected from the remains of my property. Glueing, holding and bending each one to fit ever so perfectly. Topped with a lovely floral bowl and golden wax. The owl symbolism was lost on me at the time. I spent time researching just exactly who this owl could be associated with. After careful consideration, I concluded with Athena. While Owls represent many goddesses, the golden hues could not be for anyone other than Athena. A loving, wise and crafty warrior goddess.
